Dr. Amélie Fournier is a registered psychologist through the Saskatchewan College of Psychologist and l’Ordre des psychologues du Québec, who has been providing services for the past 13 years. She pursued her education in Sherbrooke, Quebec, completing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Sherbrooke. She is a Clinical Research Associate at the Canadian Institute for Public Safety Research and Treatment (CIPSRT) at the University of Regina, and is involved in the Public Safety Personnel Internet-Delivered Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. She also contributes to the RCMP Longitudinal Study on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Amélie acquired her experience working with individuals and groups with the Clinique Sans Mur (CSM) at the Centre hospitalier du Grand-Portage, in Quebec (public hospital). At the clinic she provided assessment and individual-group treatment services to clients diagnosed with Borderline personality disorder. She was responsible for the training of various mental health caregivers, giving them a better understanding of borderline disorder, and improving their clinical interventions. Amélie also supervised international students from France, at the university level. She also worked in government founded health facilities, offering care at local community service center (CLSC), where she delivered assessment and therapeutic services to adults as well as psychological services in a private practice. Her professional experience in special needs education and psychology allowed her to develop the necessary skills to work in different crisis contexts, for example with teenagers (shelter), adult men (shelter), and particularly in civil safety situations, such as the fire that devastated a residence for seniors, in Isle-Verte, Quebec, in 2014.
